Athena Graphics is committed to a sustainable future
Athena Graphics takes its environmental responsibility seriously and has implemented several initiatives to reduce its ecological impact.
One of the most important steps is the installation of more than 400 solar panels, with which Athena Graphics generates a large part of its own energy. In addition, there are green car parks with charging stations in both Belgium and the Netherlands, supporting sustainable mobility.
Athena Graphics’ production processes have also been made more environmentally friendly. Flexo plates are cleaned with an ecological detergent, and the rotomax distiller recovers 94% of the used washing product, reducing waste.
In addition, virtual servers are used, yielding energy savings of 80%. These servers are efficiently cooled using ‘in rack cooling’ and ‘free cooling’.
Another highlight is the award-winning Smart Flexo technology. This innovative technology reduces the need for plates and inks during the printing process, leading to reduced material consumption and shorter set-up times. Specific Pantone colours are converted to quadri, ensuring stable and efficient printing.
In addition, Athena Graphics uses only FSC-certified paper, which means it comes from responsibly managed forests.
In our offices, all lighting has been converted to energy-efficient LED lamps. In plate production, 95% of our plates are produced with LED exposure technology as in the ESKO’s XPS and Xeikon’s Catena E. This offers not only a reduction in energy consumption but also a higher and more stable plate quality.
With remote proofing, Athena Graphics offers its customers the possibility of making proofs directly in their own offices, which reduces transport costs and speeds up time-to-market.
Finally, transport plates are delivered overnight, with vehicles optimally loaded and following the shortest routes. The plates are securely packed in recycled material from suppliers, minimising waste.
With these measures, Athena Graphics underlines its commitment to a sustainable future and actively contributes to a better environment.
